A Small Distraction

Theres not really anything new to report here as i have been "working" away at my group theory nonsense. I use the term "work" loosely here as mainly this has involved taking my little model of a octahedral structure and spinning it round and round to see how long it will spin for before falling over. This promoted a small scientific investigation into which molecular structure spins best.

The contenders:

- Octahedral
- Tetrahedral
- Trigonal Bipyramidal

Results - Octahedral spins the longest

is this a fair test i hear you ask.. well i spun them all on the same surface with the same hand. so yes.

evaluation? well the tetrahedral structure was difficult to spin due to no two atoms in an axial position compared to the other two, so therefore could not be spun correctly. The Octahedral lasted a tiny bit longer maybe due to the fact it has 4 equatorial atoms and the trigonal bipyramidal has 3. who knows.

A full investigation is likely to take place with extra geometries.

also if anyone would like video evidence please inform me as i am more than happy to take time out of revision to sort this out.
